I've got friends who tried herbs for insomnia and they say that they work for them. The herbs help them to feel more relaxed and go to sleep much better.
As for acupuncture, a lot depends on the skill of your TCM practitioner.
Yes to both.
I now get herbs at http://www.therootofthematter.ca/ which are at a resonable price and do exactly as they say they do.
The herb I like best are Kanna and Kratom. I've never sleep so good and felt great afterwards.I also drink Maral Root tea.
Yes, and yes.
Yes, I had acupuncture after a few weeks of not really sleeping at all. I was sceptical ~and~ I'm afraid of needles, but I was desperate! after the first treatment, I slept right thru that night – fantastic. I'd definitely recommend it. This webpage has some good tips & advice on insomnia too that might help:

If you are facing infertility you may want to know if there are any acupuncture infertility treatments that really work. before I answer this let’s discuss what acupuncture is. Acupuncture is the practice of inserting an ultra-thin needle at certain points on the body. these positions are thought to be channels or pathways from the exterior to the interior. when punctured by one of these needles regulation occurs within the channels. there are many ailments that can be helped with acupuncture, fertility included.
Infertility has been successfully treated for many centuries with natural remedies such as herbal supplements along with the use of acupuncture. there are only certain types of infertility that can be successfully treated in this manner. Infertility that stems from adhesions or scar tissue in the fallopian tubes or uterus or endometriosis are types that can’t be helped with herbs. But the use of acupuncture can help to improve the blood flow to the reproductive organs, and may help to alleviate these conditions by helping to produce a thick endometrium lining.
This lining needs to be thick and rich in order to receive and grow a fertilized egg into a healthy baby. A lot of infertility issues stem from the uterine lining being too thin. A pregnancy can occur with a thin lining, but often results in an early miscarriage.
Acupuncture works best in a therapy manner, meaning the best benefit is derived if the therapy is applied again and again over a period of time. Normally fertility treatments consist of a three to four month window to be effective. once pregnancy is achieved it is advisable to continue treatments until the chance for miscarriage goes down, at around 12 to 14 weeks of pregnancy.
Some obstetrics and gynecology experts feel that acupuncture treatments should be applied to before and after embryo transfers in IVF (in-vitro fertilization) procedures. Others feel that acupuncture works best in a combination of natural remedies like herbal supplements and traditional medical treatments. It’s worth a try though to see if the natural route along with acupuncture will work before trying or adding conventional medical means. there are many success stories of couples that conceived after having an infertility diagnosis and trying the natural route of herbs and acupuncture first.
When looking for a good acupuncturist ask your OB/GYN who they recommend. Make sure they specialize in fertility and have references. Some states even require them to be licensed.
